WEATHERIZATION

The Weatherization Assistance Program performs a fuel usage analysis that identifies areas that have the highest potential for heat loss. We develop a work scope and apply materials that have the greatest potential to save on fuel and increase the comfort of residents.

The four main areas we address are:

INFILTRATION – this is where unwanted cold enters the home. Caulking, weather-stripping, and foam products are used.

CONDUCTIVE LOSS – this is when the heat produced inside is lost to the outside. Insulating walls, attics, and sometimes floors are done.

REPAIRS – are done only to protect the energy saving materials we install. Covering insulation to protect it from moisture is an example.

HEALTH AND SAFETY— installing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, insuring the furnace and other fuel burning appliances are vented and operating safely, making repairs and replacements.
