COMMUNITY ACTION OF GREENE COUNTY, INC. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Back To School – Volunteers help coordinate the distribution of backpacks and school supplies to families in Greene County to ensure that children are well prepared for their first day of school.

Here Comes Christmas/Adopt a Family – volunteers are able to help coordinate activities involved in the distribution of gifts to families provided by the generous donations of businesses, organizations and private individuals. Over 800 Greene County children served each year through this program.
Domestic Violence Program – Volunteers can assist with day to day activities in the shelters: assisting with the weekly shops, organizing social activities, preparing arts and crafts or sporting activities with the children, etc.

A Piece of Warmth Coat and Blanket Distribution – Each fall, community members donate gently used outer wear and blankets. Volunteers may assist in sorting the items and preparing for their distribution to families in need.
Emergency Food Pantry – Volunteers with a valid license and clean driving record may assist by performing local grocery shops to keep our pantry shelves full. Volunteers are also needed to prepare food packages for those coming to us for assistance, as well as to stock and organize pantry shelves.
Moving On – Volunteers in good physical condition are needed to assist with our furniture donation program. Volunteers may pick up furniture donations from community members, and then bring them to our storage facility. Volunteers may also assist consumers in retrieving donations when they are setting up their new permanent housing.

Career Clothing Closet – Gently worn clothing suitable for the workplace are donated by community members for distribution to folks entering or re-entering the workforce. Volunteers can help keep the closet clean, tidy and organized!

Fundraising – Whether a silent auction/dinner dance, a zumbathon, food drive, etc., volunteers always make the work load lighter!!
