

The Senior
Companion Program provides volunteer opportunities to older Americans to assist
homebound, often isolated seniors maintain independence, comfort, and dignity in
their lives.
Who Can Become a Senior Companion?
- Adults age 60 and over with limited income
- Those able to serve 15 to 40 hours per week
Those with a source of transportation
What do Senior Companions Do?
- Visit with two or more homebound elderly weekly
- Read, walk with, etc.
- Assist with and/or share in a meal
- Offer companionship and social interaction
- Advocate
- Provide respite for caregivers
- Provide positive home transition services to eligible seniors recently
discharged from the hospital or rehabilitation services.
What are the Benefits of becoming a Senior Companion?
