Program Assistant

 

Classification:

 

Part-Time; Non-Exempt

 

Reports To:

Senior Companion Program Director/Family and Community Development Director

 

Hours:

12 Hours / Week

 

General Duties:

 

Perform functions within Greene County and adjoining counties to raise funds for the Program and recruitment of Senior Companion Volunteers.  Assist with the daily operations of the Program

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Associate's Degree in human Services or related field experience

  • Strong communication skills that enable work with the public and professionals

  • Public speaking abilities and strong written, and computer skills

  • Familiarity of services available to Senior Citizens is helpful

  • Must have transportation to meet the needs of the position and valid NYS Driver License

  • NYS Central Registry clearance required

 

Activities Include:  
  • Conduct Program fund raising to the extent that is reasonable and practical and coordinated with other Agency fund raising

  • Recruit Senior Companion Volunteers for the Program per guidelines in the SCP Handbook, and as mandated from the Corporation for National & Community Service

  • Promote community awareness of the SCP through public information and speaking engagements.

  • Distribute flyers/brochures, application for  potential volunteers and provide assistance in completing applications as necessary

  • Assist in developing new Volunteer Stations per SCP guidelines

  • Assist with office duties and manage daily routine of the office during short term absence of the SCP Director
